I’m at a loss where to start since I’m determined that my blogs won’t suck to the same degree that the vast majority of on-line diaries do. There won’t be any pictures of my pets, rants about lines at the bank or that sort of thing here. No cute stories about my kids (I only have one so far anyway) anywhere near or my personal interpretation of professional sports - as if you’d want to read that instead of poking needles into your eyes

The timeshare industry in SA comes in for a lot of criticism. If they're not apparently lying to you to get you interested (check out the saga of Quality Vacation Club in any of the last issues of noseweek - I dare them to try and sue me like they have with other bloggers!), they seemingly cannot get their admin right.

I posted the following concerning Flexi Holiday Club and their handing over my late father-in-law's account to TransUnion on hellopeter.com with the above heading. For 'person responsible' I put 'The Grim Reaper',

I had to share this. In a snide (although wholly unbalanced) article that screams ‘I told you so’, someone called Jonathan Steele of The Guardian has claimed that the US had ‘admitted defeat’ in Iraq. ‘Defeat’ is a very strong word with military connotations; Hitler was defeated, Troy was defeated, Bismarck soundly defeated Napoleon III, etc. This might come as a surprise to the rest of us who realise that the only reason Saddam is no longer in power is because he was swept out by the US military. No doubt Saddam would have enjoyed his hanging a lot more if he known that Steele was watching those bits that matched his personal agenda and had decided that the Baghdad Butcher was really ahead on points. That Iraq is only the second Middle East democracy and that Mad Dog Gadaffi caught such a fright at what the US was doing that he voluntarily dismantled his A-bomb programme doesn’t matter apparently. While cleaning the swimming pool yesterday I half-remembered something I had come across on a tabloid site during the course of last week.

Assuming for a moment that anything written in the tabloids can be trusted, I learned that the soon to be divorced Guy Ritchie has halted plans for the pool at the home he shared with soon to be ex-wife Madonna (I wish she’d chosen another name) to be emptied and filled with ‘Kabbalah water’. I treat my pool with granular chlorine only. I know it’s correctly balanced when my dogs drink from it despite having other water available or I don’t have a faint smell of pool chemicals on my skin when I get out. How does one balance a pool a pool filled with Kabbalah water? Add another ‘blessing’ maybe when you start seeing algae? Would the kiddies be allowed in? We all know after all that any swimming pool with children added soon gets diluted with urine.

The object of today’s rant are “Catholics” who support abortion, particularly those who hold public office. The position is really quite simple: the Church has always taught that it is murder to terminate an unborn child, finished. The magical moment when life begins is conception, finished. Ending a life prematurely and outside one of the few and very narrow exceptions (self defence for instance) is murder, finished. Read More »
